Applebees Complaint – they tried to serve me microwaved hamburger meat

I was served microwaved meat at Applebees

I was home for the holidays so a few friends and I decided to grab a bite to eat. One of my friends suggested we go to Applebees. I had not been there in a long time so I agreed to go. Everyone else was happy with the decision also.

We got there and it was packed. Since it was a Friday night around dinner time I was not surprised. We had to wait about 5 minutes to sit down which wasn’t too long. The hostess was very friendly, and apologized for the wait.

We sat down to eat and we all ordered some drinks. The waitress appeared to be very nice. She however seemed a bit stressed out by the large amount of people there. After she came back with our drinks we all ordered our meals. I ordered a Bacon Cheeseburger with fries. A pretty simple order in my opinion. The waitress left and placed the order in the kitchen.

It took a little longer than I expected for the food to arrive. However, I was not too surprised since it was so busy. When I got my food it looked very stale. When I picked up my burger it was ice cold to the touch. I was not happy one bit about this, considering I order my burger well-done. While I waited to for the waitress I picked it apart, and took a closer look. I was disgusted with what I saw. The burger didn’t even appear to be grilled. It appeared to have been just thrown in the microwave in a weak attempt to heat up the meat.

I pointed this our to the waitress when she came back and she apologized, while she took it back to the kitchen. The food came back surprisingly fast, but it wasn’t much better. It appeared to have been just thrown on the grill for 5 minutes to crisp the outside of it. The center was still blood red, and very cold. I asked to speak with the manager and he came right over.

I explained to him how I ordered my burger and that it looked like it had been microwaved. The manager agreed that it appeared to have been microwaved and was very troubled by what she had seen. He took my plate back once more and had the burger remade. When it came back a third time I was hesitant to eat it. I have heard horror stories about what goes on in the kitchen when you send your food back.

My food looked fine when I got it back. Very hot, and cooked to my liking of well-done. I inspected it carefully to make sure that nothing bad was done to it, like being dropped on the floor, spit on, or anything of that nature.

I reluctantly ate it anyways but my overall experience there was atrocious. I will not be back at Applebees any time soon. If you do dare to venture there I encourage you to keep an eye out for any microwaved mystery meat.

I went to an Applebees and they tried to serve me microwaved BBQ chicken it was rubbery and chewy. Then When i asked them about it, they said it was probably just the way they cooked it but there was nothing they could do about it. I now go out of my way to make sure I never eat at an Applebees again

I have a friend who used to work at an applebees and she told me that she hated working there. The main reason for her statment was that she couldn’t stand how applebees treated their customers. She told me to never eat there unless I want my food microwaved. So from the inside, I have heard the “truth” and want to pass it on as a warning to others. As I inform others of this news, some seem to dislike what they hear and try to “defend” one of their favorite places to eat, but I beg to differ.
