I went to the Family Dollar on Harris Blvd. in Charlotte NC the other day. I went in there to see if they had some good deals on toys for kids. I saw a flyer or remembered seeing a flyer in the newspaper that said that they had some sales going on. So I went in and checked the place out and I ended up buying batteries, but no kids toys – they didn’t have anything that interested me in toys.
Anyway, so I got these batteries home and we need them for some of the kids toys. I bought a set of the AA batteries that they had their by the cashier area. When I want to put these in my kids toys I noticed that a lot of them didn’t work. And some of them barely had any power or juice left in them.
These were definitely old or very crappy batteries. They said they were for toys, digital cameras and more. So I also tried some in my Nikon digital camera, which just so happen to take two AA batteries. You know what happened? Absolutely nothing. The camera would not turn on or do anything regardless of which two batteries I put in there from this Family Dollar pack of AA batteries.
Maybe these batteries were really old and as anyone knows batteries that are several years old lose their charge. The older the batteries the less the charge and eventually they get to the point where they’re useless. That’s what these batteries were like. Only a few of them worked and the ones that did barely gave enough juice to operate some of the toys.
None of the toys operated like they should. For instance there was a Lego motor that my kids used to make their Lego cars and motorcycles come to life and move and it only uses two AA batteries. I got it to work but barely – it was like really slow like it was in extreme slow-motion.
I don’t like wasting my time because now I have to make a trip (15 miles or more) to that side of Charlotte or that Family Dollar was located to return these obviously bad batteries. I am a very busy person and I don’t have time to be running around to do stuff like that for something that only costs a few dollars.
Being that I couldn’t find anything that interested me anyway at the Family Dollar, I think I will just stick to Wal-Mart and the other stores closer to me. I have bought batteries many times at Wal-Mart and BJ’s and never had a problem like this.
