I’ve been to several colleges in my life, but none of them were ever any where near as bad as TC3 (Tompkins Cortland Community College. First off the school is in the middle of nowhere so I had to take a bus from downtown Ithaca that took over an hour and a half to get there. That totally sucked. It was an hour and a half to get there and then an hour and a half to get back.
Then when I got there I found out that the professors, for the most part, were complete idiots. I knew more without ever previously taking these classes than any of these professors did. Then to make matters worse the classes were loaded with stupid college students – I think the average college student at TC3 has an IQ (Intelligence Quotient, in case you are a TC3 student or professor) of under 10 – barely alive and functioning.
I basically didn’t do any homework the whole time I attended TC3 and I transfered out after 1 year. I couldn’t stand to stay at a school that was this dumb any longer. I was constantly having to help classmates understand class concepts. To make extra money I wrote papers for most of the people in my classes (I charged $100 per paper on any subject and guaranteed an A on every paper I wrote – I never had any complaints as my papers always got A’s).
A lot of the professors had absolutely no concept of how to relate ideas to their students. In other words they couldn’t teach worth a crap and were extremely boring at the same time. The only cool and interesting professor was my sociology professor. Their classes were always full and all I remember them talking about was either the concentration camps in Germany (like Auschwitz), the recession here in America and smoking pot – I think their favorite past time was smoking pot – they always reeked of it.
I was so glad to leave that school and move on to bigger and better things. Unfortunately the college that I went to knew that TC3 (Tompkins Cortland Community College was a very low quality school or college and so they didn’t accept a lot of my credits from there even though I had straight A’s and a 4.0 GPA. Regardless, I was glad to leave there and go to a college where people actually have brains and the professors actually know what they are talking about – Columbia University in NYC.
I don’t think they would have accepted me at Columbia University if it weren’t for the fact that I almost had a perfect score on the SAT’s (I missed like 2 or 3 questions on it). I don’t think Columbia university would even bother looking at college students from Tompkins Cortland community college. I am a Junior now at Columbia and am planning on going to law school shortly.
The time I spent at TC3 was a complete waste. I didn’t learn much at all if anything and I basically wasted a year of my life that could have been better spent elsewhere. I thought originally that I was saving my parents money by going to a local community college for the first two years of my undergraduate work. Unfortunately I had such a bad experience at TC3 that I transfered out early on.
The only regrets that I had is maybe that there are fewer good looking females here at Columbia University, but that’s okay as we are located in NYC and I I just have to walk a mile away from the school or so and there are thousands of beautiful women everywhere. The bottom line here, if I can give you some advice, is to avoid crappy low quality schools like TC3. Tompkins Cortland Community College is a waste of space in my opinion and needs to be closed down.
The quality of education at TC3 is so bad that one should not have to pay to go to that school – instead they should pay you to attend there. Avoid this community college. It’s a complete waste of space and time.
