I was craving some Japanese the other day, and was in the mood to try something new. I had heard many good things about Toyama Express over on Mallard Creek Church Road so I decided to try it, and see for myself.
I walked in around lunch time, so there was a little bit of a line. It was only three or four people so I didn’t have to wait long. When I stepped to the counter to place my order I was expected to be greeted by someone who didn’t speak english very well. This is often the case at many Japanese, and Chinese restaurants. However I was pleasantly surprised that girl at the front spoke perfect english.
I placed my order of hibachi chicken and broccoli and the girl at the front rang me up. I was surprised with how inexpensive it was. When the girl gave me a total of $6 I almost did a double take. Most places like this are very overpriced.
I sat down to wait for my food, and it was brought out to me almost instantly. I literally waited no longer than a minute to receive my food. I had never seen such expedient service from some place other than a fast food restaurant.
I was very hungry, so I eagerly dug into my food. I must say that the food definitely lived up to all the hype. It was very hot, very fresh, and overall a really good meal. They don’t short you on the food either. The plate you receive has a heaping mound of rice, chicken, and broccoli. The shrimp sauce it comes with also very tasty. I left the restaurant feeling very full.
I had a great experience at Toyama Express and would recommend it to anyone who likes Japanese food. It was a quick stop for lunch, very inexpensive, and delicious. I definitely look forward to my next trip there. I’m sure it will be soon.
